The Howard College Theater Department received a Bronze rating and several individual awards during the 2023 TCCSTA Festival. The Texas Community College Speech and Theater Association (TCCSTA) hosted its annual festival February 23rd at the University of North Texas where community colleges from across the state presented shows.
Howard College received an overall Bronze rating for their performance of “Terra Nova” at the festival as well as the following individual awards: Audience Choice (Joshua Menefee), Professor’s Choice (Joshua Menefee), Respondent’s Choice – Acting (Madi Armstrong and Jonathan Castanon), Respondants Choice – Technical (Emery Young), 2nd Overall Technical Presentation (Emery Young), and Technical Presentation – Hair and Makeup (Emery Young).
In addition to their performance at TCCSTA, the Theater Department also received the following Regional Production Meritorious Achievements from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) for Region 6: Excellence in Projection Design (Addison Smith and April Langehennig), Excellence in Makeup Design (Emery Young), Excellence in Costume Design (April Langehennig and Madi Armstrong), Excellence in Fight Choreography (Cory Lawson), and Excellence in Acting (Niall Connell). The KCACTF honors excellence of overall production and offers student artists individual recognition through awards and scholarship in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing, and design.
