Yes, we will have in-person/hybrid ceremonies for our graduates. Students will be able to participate in-person or virtually through our Graduation Celebration Experience program. Ceremonies will be held as follows:

    • May 13, 2021 @ 6:30pm; San Angelo; Foster Communications Coliseum
    • May 14, 2021 @ 10am; SWCD; SWCD Campus, Maddux Student Center
    • May 14, 2021 @ 7pm; Big Spring/Lamesa; Big Spring Campus, Dorothy Garrett Coliseum

Yes, all three ceremonies will be livestreamed, and information/links will be shared on the college website as well as our social media platforms.

If you have completed the requirements to make you eligible for graduation, you will receive a text message invitation as well as an email providing you with instructions to register for graduation.

Yes, if you would like to participate either in-person OR virtually, you will need to follow the instructions provided to register for the graduation ceremony on your campus.

If you feel like you should be eligible to graduation but did not receive the text message or the email, please contact us at communications@howardcollege.edu and we will direct your questions to the appropriate department.

  • Big Spring/Lamesa/San Angelo: Each student will be given 4 tickets
  • SWCD: Each student will be given 2 tickets
  • Students should request the number of tickets they would like to have when requesting tickets in the graduation registration process. You will initially be given the maximum number allowed per student/per campus. For example: If you would LIKE to have 6 tickets, request 6 tickets when registering for graduation. Initially, you will be given the maximum of 4 tickets. If other tickets are not used, they will go to a pool and reallocated based on student request.
  • If you know you need less than the maximum number of tickets, only request what you need, and your unused tickets will be put into a pool and reallocated.
  • The tickets are sent directly to the student and the student will disperse them to their family and friends.

Yes, everyone will need a ticket to enter a graduation ceremony. Tickets will be scanned at the door. Attendees can use the digital version of the ticket or they can print the ticket and bring it to the door. Once a ticket is scanned the first time, it is deactivated and cannot be scanned for entrance a second time.

Students can purchase their graduation regalia (cap, gown, tassel) at the bookstore on their campus. Lamesa students can purchase their regalia at the Big Spring campus bookstore.

For student loan borrowers: It is your responsibility to complete Exit Counseling online prior to the separation from Howard College / SWCD. To complete exit counseling, please visit https://studentloans.gov/myDirectLoan/counselingInstructions.action?counselingType=exit. A hold on your transcript will be placed until Exit counseling is completed. Once graduated, your enrollment status will be reported to the Department of Education as ‘graduated’ within 30 days of the graduation date. It is your responsibility to contact their loan servicer for the repayment of student loans.
