Perkins Resources
The Perkins grant provides assistance to students who have demonstrated financial need and are in career and technical education programs. The purpose of the program is to help qualified students overcome obstacles in fully completing their education.
Perkins Assistance Program
The Carl Perkins grant provides funds for Textbook and childcare assistance. To apply for this grant, the following criteria must be met for you to be considered for the grant:
- Must have a 2.00 cumulative GPA
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours per long semester and 3 hours per summer term
- Must be a special populations student (see below list of special population criteria)
- Must be a Career Technical Education major or enrolled in a Health Professions program
- Must reapply each semester
Special Population Categories
- Homeless
- Single parent/single pregnant individual
- Economically disadvantaged
- Unemployed
- Has a disability
- A youth in or aged-out of foster care system
- A youth whose parent is in the U.S. military and on active duty
- English learners
- An individual preparing for a non-traditional field for their gender
Assistance Available
ASSISTANCE FOR COMMUTER STUDENTS – OPTION 1
REQUIREMENTS:
- Complete the Perkins Grant Assistance Application
- Class Schedule demonstrating a Career-Technical-Education (CTE) major, full-time enrollment (at least 12 hours)
TEXTBOOK CHECK-OUT FOR ELIGIBLE STUDENTS
- Complete the Perkins Grant Assistance Application
- Financial Aid Award Letter (Pell Grant) or Government Assistance cards (WIC, TANF, DARS, Medicaid, Food Stamps, Foster Youth, Veteran Education Benefits)
- Current Class Schedule, demonstrating a Career & Technical Education (CTE) major
