The new Howard College Techteach program filled the Student Union Building Thursday, Nov. 29th. The evening was host to an informational session for anyone interested in a fast track to becoming a teacher. In partnership with Texas Tech University, the program provides a pathway for students to complete 2 years at Howard College Big Spring, followed a 3rd year at Texas Tech University while student teaching in our own communities. “We are working with Big Spring, Coahoma, Lamesa, and Forsan School Districts, to create a pipeline of qualified teachers for our schools.” announced Bryan Stokes, District Director of Student Support, during the presentation. Around 80 interested attendees filled the Fireplace Room for the informational session. Key department representatives from within the College had staff in attendance ready to answer questions after the session.
