The Howard College AEL department assists adults with obtaining their high school equivalency, preparing for college entrance exams and workforce / career readiness. We also help individuals needing basic literacy or ESL skills. The Big Spring and San Angelo campuses offer different AEL services so please check the campus page for the area you require.
HSE - High School Equivalency
The HSE classes focus on the skills needed to pass the GED® and HiSET® exams, both of which are offered at the Howard College San Angelo Testing Center.
Transitions (TSI Prep)
The TSI is a standardized test that is required for college placement. TSI Prep is a 7-week course that meets twice a week and has an online component. This course runs as needed* in the afternoons and evenings.
ESL/EL Civics - English as a Second Language
ESL classes provide students the opportunity to listen to the English language and to improve their speaking, listening, reading & writing skills.
