The Howard College Test Centers provide a variety of testing services to students, faculty and the community.  Services will vary by campus but generally include assessment testing, proctoring services, and national test administrations.

Tests and Services Offered:
The following tests listed are offered by appointment:  ACT, CLEP, SAT, TEAS and TSI. Proctoring services are also available for outside institutions or agencies by appointment for a service charge of $15.00.

V CLEP

CLEP
CLEP tests are offered all year by scheduled appointment. To pre-register and for information about the CLEP test, visit their website at  http://clep.collegeboard.org/. CLEP test fee is $80.00 each subject, plus a Howard College Administration fee of $15.00.  For information regarding Howard College course equivalency, click the Howard College catalog link below and for Howard College CLEP policies, click Howard College CLEP Policy Flyer below. Pre-registration is required.  To register for the SAT test and information about the SAT, visit their website at www.sat.collegeboard.org.  For available Howard College test dates, click the link below:

V TEAS V (Version 5)

TEAS V (Version 5)
The TEAS V test is required for the Howard College Vocational Nursing Program and the RN Program.  To register for the test or for  test prep information, visit the ATI website at www.atitesting.com.  Test fee is $71.00.  For Howard College Big Spring Campus test dates, click the link below:  

V TSI

TSI

The TSI assessment test is designed to help determine your level of skill in the areas of reading, writing and mathematics. It provides detailed information regarding your academic strengths and weaknesses. A MANDATORY Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) is required before you can test. The Pre-Assessment Activity consist of a Pre-Assessment Video and a Pre-Assessment Quiz.

(The PAA can be completed prior to arriving to the test center. Just select the TSI Pre-Assessment Video link below to view the video and then select the TSI Pre-Assessment Quiz below to complete the quiz. The quiz password is howard. A copy of the completed quiz must be presented on the test day and it must include your first and last name.)

GED
The GED tests are offered year-round. To register and schedule a test date, go to www.ged.com and setup your MyGED account. The website gives you access to study guides, test scores, test tips, testing center locations, test day schedules, and more. If you don’t have access to the internet, call (877) 392-6433.

Candidates must be 18 years of age and hold a valid Texas photo ID such as a driver’s license, which is required before testing. Other acceptable IDs include a military ID, a passport, or any other government issued ID (Texas residency must be proven). Candidates younger than 18 years of age will require special approval from the State of Texas before they can schedule any tests. Details for the process are included on the website www.ged.com.

V HOBET

HOBET
(Health Occupation Basic Entrance Test)

Students applying for admission to the Radiologic Technology program or the Respiratory Care program are required to take the HOBET test. Students must register for the test online at www.atialliedhealth.com. For instructions for the online registration, click here. There is a $60.00 test fee. NOTE: A 30-day interval is required for retaking the HOBET test. The HOBET test can only be taken 3 times per academic year.

V Manual Dexterity

Manual Dexterity
Students applying for admission to the Surgical Technology program are required to take the Manual Dexterity test. The test is only offered during the Spring semester. There is no test fee. V TEAS

TEAS
(Test of Essential Academic Skills)

Students applying for admission to the Vocational Nursing program or the RN program are required to take the TEAS test. Students must register online at www.atitesting.com. There is a $65.00 test fee. NOTE: A 60-day interval is required for retaking the TEAS test. The TEAS test can only be taken 3 times per academic year.

V TSI

TSI
(Texas Success Initiative) 

The TSI Assessment is designed to help determine if you are ready for college-level course work in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Based on your test results, you may either be enrolled in college-level courses within your degree plan or be placed in the appropriate developmental courses to improve your skills and prepare you for success in college-level courses.

Registration is required for the TSI. Contact the Testing Coordinator, Ginger Collins, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or (325) 481-8300 ext. 3405 or Room D121. There is a test fee of $10 for each section (reading, writing, and math). The test fee will be paid on the test date. There is a limit of 23 persons per test date.

NOTE: On average, allow 4-6 hours to complete the test if taking all three sections.
